As previously announced, we are eliminating the center folding notches from our shaped and shaped/profiled bassoon cane. We will continue to transition to cane without the notches as our supply of notched cane is expended.
Why are we doing this? We found that the notches are not necessary in achieving a good fold in the center of the cane. In fact, we have stopped using a tool that assisted in folding cane for our reeds since just folding a wet piece of profiled cane by hand achieved quicker and more accurate results.
Eliminating the notches also saves time in processing the cane and saves wear and tear on our equipment.
Practical and bottom line reasons. Seems logical to us!
